Over the past 20 blogs, 15 have been for the Big 2 (11 football and 4 basketball.) There were three general blogs more about general sports admin, and only two hitting on any of the "minor" sports: one volleyball and one soccer. This despite the fact that volleyball and soccer are launching their season along side of football.

The other sports are building in popularity and the coverage they get has a great impact on fan attendance and participation. Much of the interest in the sport comes from getting to know the players. It was a blow to loose Tim Flagstad from the Journal as he gave great coverage to some of the other sports at ISU. It looks now like we are going back to the staple of every small college town: football and basketball.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1684060493936630561.post-74041961377218874232010-08-16T21:25:37.227-06:002010-08-16T21:25:37.227-06:00Congratulations, Frank.

Jordan Scott and Evan Mozzochi both felt like they would get more playing time somewhere else, so we lose APR points. A kid does something stupid and now a coach is left with the decision of either cut him and lose the APR point and anger some fans/boosters/administrators, or keep the kid and anger some fans/boosters/administrators.

What's great is I don't have to compare or say anything because this AP article on ESPN does it all for me...

http://sports.espn.go.com/ncaa/news/story?id=5268018

I mean they have a guy from the NCAA saying the rule favors the schools with the money and resources...kind of validates at least one argument.

Again, it needs to be better and it will, but I think we have had four cycles now...maybe five. 57 of the 60 times, no penalty or notice or anything. Would we prefer 60-for-60? Yes, but the end of the world isn't at hand, although internally we have changed things up as if it has.

Also, folks are jumping on Zamberlin...only two of the four years in this score are his, and he has the highest of the four years in there...Does he want it better? You bet, folks are wrongly beating him up for this.

Good comment and post though...I'll keep trying to answer and feed information.

FMIdaho State Sports Informationhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/16986679311574606053noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1684060493936630561.post-68171784976115996532010-06-09T17:38:19.148-06:002010-06-09T17:38:19.148-06:00I nominate J's post as post of the day. That being said, and I'm speaking just for me, I'm always trying to learn from whatever situations present themselves, so that I can handle a situation better the next time around.

I had a coach who told me that excuses are like armpits (he didn't say armpits...use your imagination) ... everyone has one and they all stink. Are there any other positions of which you are aware that start in the six-figure range and where mediocre performance is justified as a learning experience?

Seriously, this whole "learning on the job" nonsense got old 3 years ago.
