The Idaho State men's and women's tennis teams hosted its season openers against Utah State last week. Though both teams fell 5-2, the Bengals showed some competitive strength especially on the men's side who had several close matches. Junior Danel Barrenechea and freshman Nate Gross posted singles victories, while on the women's side ISU captured its first doubles point sin since April of 2008. Freshman Amy Bettis swept the day with a doubles and singles victory. Head Coach Bobby Goeltz expects the teams to perform better than they have in years. Be sure to watch ISU's transformation during the men's remaining five home games and the women's remaining six.
